The Great Ships

During Shakespeare's time, the transportation was quite different than what we know today. Ocean voyages long and short were done on large wooden sailing ships.

1. Read the two pages of information about sailing ships.

2 .Match the number on the labeled diagram and use the nautical dictionary [Click here] to find the meanings.

3. Write a journal entry in your reading book about what it would be like to be aboard a sailing ship.

Pets Day 2010

Our pets day was a rousing success! Students brought flowers and foliage to create amazing floral displays and sand saucers. They senior class also showed remarkable talent in cake decorating. The diligent work of the previous week on the decoupage boxes and haiku poems was evident during judging. Best of all, students show-cased their animal wrangling talents with the calves and lambs.

Netball Tournament 2010

On Friday, October 15 the students of Room 1 at Rangiwahia participated in the Oroua Netball Tournament in Feilding. The valliant Stoats and brave Possums battled it out with teams from other schools. We had a lot of fun!

Hearty congratulations are in order for Lucy and Courtney for leading their teams to 8th and 9th places, respectively. There were nine teams in the tournament.

Pictures of the tournament can be viewed and downloaded for free from:

Animals of Canada

Today we are going to research one of Canada's animals. There are many different species to choose from. As a group, your task is to choose an animal and complete an Animal Profile.

I have included two internet links to start your research.

Canadian Animals - SaskSchools

Canadian Fauna

Each person in the group must fill out an Animal Profile. If you are doing this from home, here is a link to the Profile to print out:
